FROM AWAY

The New Mexico series was done during two Helene Wurlitzer Foundation residencies in Taos. Working plein air, with oil sticks on watercolor paper, they track the movement of the sun and shadow on the stark landscape.

A visit to San Miguel de Allende in 2004 produced a series of dog portrait paintings. The architecture, the graffiti and the luminous colors combined with the dogs living on roofs in an almost mystical way.

The Irish series, also oil sticks and plein air, documents the hillsides and rocky coastline of Ballinskelligs.
